Do you have an essential oil diffuser necklace yet? I love myself. It’s such an easy and convenient way to always have my favorite essential oils with me.

  • For relaxation: 2 drops grounding blend and 2 drops lavender

9. Make a diffuser bracelet

To use your bracelet, apply a small amount of essential oil to 1-3 clay beads. Make sure to apply the oil on the part of the bead that is away from your skin. Because essential oils are highly concentrated, it is best to avoid applying them directly to the skin except in very specific circumstances. For example, lavender can sometimes be helpful when applied to small, minor burns.

Here’s my method: I put a drop of essential oil on a plate and dip the outside of each bead into it. When the smell is gone I add more essential oil to the bracelet. Some oils have considerable staying power and can last for several days, while others will wear off more quickly.

Tap the ball. Reattach the fan and completely remove the hand from the fan before turning it on).

15. Shower steamer

No time for a bath, but love the aromatherapy benefits of a bath bomb? Try the shower melt!

The basic recipe is 1 cup baking soda, 1/3 cup distilled water, and 25 drops of essential oil. Mix together. Add more baking soda and/or water to make a thick paste. Spoon into silicone molds. Allow to air dry for 1-2 days, and then store them in airtight containers once they are completely dry.

Place the shower steamer on your shower floor to use. Place it in a place where it will get a little wet, but out of the main stream of water. As the water hits it, it will dissolve and release the aroma (and benefits) of the essential oils you used to make it. Be careful though not to wet it too quickly or it will completely dissolve and go down the drain before you can enjoy the aroma of the oil.

 16. Washcloth steamer

Don’t have time to make a shower steamer (#15 above)? There is an easy alternative – just put a few drops of essential oil on a washcloth.

The oil lamp, or oil candle, is one of mankind’s oldest forms of lighting, with stone oil lamps dating back 10,000 to 15,000 years. If you have collected pine cones from your yard or nature, start by baking the insects off your pine cones first. Bake in a 200 degree oven for 1 hour and then let cool completely.

If you bought your pinecones at a store or are reusing them from your own decorating collection, you can skip the baking step.

Place your pinecones in a large glass or stainless steel bowl. Sprinkle pine cones with 15-20 drops of cinnamon essential oil (or your Christmas blend of choice). Toss them to coat. Cover the bowl tightly. Shake the pine cones every couple of days to distribute the essential oils and aromas. After a few weeks the pine cones are ready to use.

23. Essential oil fire starters

DIY Homemade Wax Fire Starters

Guys, if there’s one thing I’ve learned after six years of marriage, it’s that hell hath no fury like a man unable to kindle a fire. Unless, um, it’s just my guy (please say it’s not just my guy). Every winter my husband and I break out the cozy sweaters, firewood, and s’mores, and then spend hours trying to get the fire going. And every year we say never again. This year, instead of taking our own advice, I thought I’d prepare ahead of time. I collected soy wax, cinnamon sticks and bay leaves that we had lying around, and put together these easy DIY fire starters to make things a little easier.

Not only are these babies cute, but they are so helpful when it comes to starting a fire. Like small candles, they burn long enough to turn stubborn wood into a blazing fire. Plus, they make the cutest gifts. Just collect a few and give them to all your girlfriends (or you can mail them to me!) Trust me, we’ll thank you.

DIY Homemade Wax Fire Starters

How to Make a Homemade Wax Fire Starter

Many fire starter DIYs on the internet aren’t exactly easy to make. Seriously, who has two pounds of sawdust and dryer lint lying around? While I believe they are useful, they are not exactly easy to come by, fun to make or pleasant to burn.

How to use essential oils without diffuser

Not one to be deterred, however, I decided to use common kitchen ingredients to make my own. These fire starters use things like bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, star anise and cardamom to ignite the fire and infuse the air with warm fall scents.

Homemade Wax Fire Starters

Ingredients

  • 4 cups (about 1 pound) natural soy wax flakes
  • Bay leaves
  • Cinnamon sticks, broken in half.
  • Dry spices like cloves, star anise and cardamom
  • Small pine cones or pine needles
  • Essential oils such as cinnamon, clove and spruce
  • Cotton balls
  • 12-cup regular muffin pan
  • Unbleached baking cups
  • Glass vessel for melting wax

Instructions

  • Line your muffin tins with paper liners. Stuff each with a mixture of bay leaves, cinnamon sticks and dried herbs. Place a cotton ball in the center of each cup.
  • Place your soy wax in a glass jar. Microwave in 30-second intervals until melted. Add your essential oil and stir.
  • Pour melted wax into each muffin tin until almost full. Add additional herbs if needed, then let cool completely.
  • Remove the fire starters from the pan and store in an airtight container until ready to use.
  • To use, place a fire starter in the bottom of a wood-burning fireplace and stack logs on top. Light the wick and let the fire starter burn until the wood catches.

24. Diffusion of ornaments

How cute are these? Set of 10 wood slice tags (each 2-2.5 inches in diameter). Perfect for a gift tag or ornament. Add a few drops of white fir or Douglas fir essential oil and even your artificial tree will smell like it was just cut fresh from the Christmas tree farm. Add two more drops of essential oil every few days as needed.

25. Orange pomander

How to make Spicy Orange Pomander Balls

Yesterday the temperature dropped again and we chose indoor activities over snow sports.

How to use essential oils without diffuser

I tipped a tin of whole cloves into bowls, pulled out the oranges and boys and while listening to an audiobook I made the Spiced Orange Pomander Balls. It was a craft I used to make as a child, sitting by the wood fire, deeply engrossed with story tapes on cassette.

Spiced Orange Pomander Balls are easy enough to make and make both a beautiful centerpiece and a natural air freshener. The best part is that it is a natural decoration and can be made from items around the house.

You will need:

  • Ripe, fresh citrus fruit. If it is too dry or too oily, it will be difficult to blow with cloves.
  • A few toothpicks. A nail also works well.
  • A jar of whole cloves.
  • Lemon zest or sharp vegetable peeler.
  • A flexible or two.
  • Kitchen twine if you decide to hang any pomanders.

Here are 8 ways to use essential oils without a diffuser

1. A ball of cotton

Put a few drops of your favorite oil, or your favorite blend of oils, on a plain cotton ball. You can put a cotton ball in the fan hole in your car or your floorboard. Blowing air will pass through the cotton ball, diffusing the scent. I have also put eucalyptus on a cotton ball and put them gently in my children’s ears to help with earaches but if you don’t want it to be topical be careful with just one drop!

2. Spray bottle

Any type of spray bottle will do. Repurpose the one under your sink or pick up an inexpensive spray bottle at the local dollar store. Add a few drops of your oil to water and use as an air freshener. Try our popular air freshener recipe, which uses vinegar to help neutralize odors while you freshen up with oils.

3. The tissue method

Spray the oil on a tissue, hand towel or washcloth near where you work or sleep. One of my favorite places to spritz the oil is on my pillowcase at night. I use lavender for a calming effect. It also works wonders for my kids at bedtime. Tip – If you’re worried it’ll end up in your hair or on your skin, just spray it on a hand towel and put it under your pillow. Sleep well…

4. In the dryer

Dryer balls are new to me. My local county fair was selling alpaca wool dryer balls this past summer. My girls begged me to get some. I think they just liked Alpacas and my husband was enjoying playing with them so I decided to give them a try. They are super cheap and seem to last forever. I just leave mine in the dryer so I only have to put a few drops in a ball. If you don’t have dryer balls, just spray oil on a washcloth and toss it in.

5. On the stove

A quick method of aromatherapy is to simply use a pot on your stove. Partially fill with water and add your EO a little at a time. Make sure it doesn’t boil, just steaming will do. Add more as needed. It will surely fill your kitchen with aroma. I do this when my kids have a cold or just to enjoy the holidays with oils like orange and cinnamon.

6. Diffuser necklace

Terracotta pendants worn as necklaces make an inexpensive alternative to diffusers. The essential oil applied to the pendant is absorbed into the soil. It will slowly diffuse into the air under your nose to relieve or help with a cold.

7. In the bath

Take a warm bath, add a few drops of a soothing oil or your favorite fragrance. Dive in and let the stress of the day melt away. Note that this oil will thin out somewhat on your skin.

8. Palm or bottle method

In a pinch, simply open the bottle, take a deep breath, and repeat every few minutes. But if it’s an oil you feel safe using on your skin, you can put 2-3 drops on your palm and rub them in (depending on the carrier oil you’re using). (diluted with a small amount of ) put your hands under your face and take deep breaths.

How to Use Essential Oils to Scent a Room Without a Diffuser

Discover below how to use essential oils to scent a room and your entire home without using a diffuser.

How to use essential oils without diffuser

Essential oils are compounds extracted from plants that have health and wellness properties. They are associated with reducing pain, inducing meditation, increasing energy, and relieving stress.

Peppermint, lavender, lemongrass, and chamomile are the most popular for their organic properties.

If you’ve visited a spa, you’ve experienced the calming essence of essential oils as they are pushed through a diffuser, spreading their relaxing properties through the facility.

How to Use Essential Oils to Scent a Room (11 Ways)

Adding a few drops of your favorite oil to a diffuser is the most common way to reap the benefits of essential oils and neutralize household odors.

As the diffuser heats up, it spreads the vapor throughout the room allowing the essential oil compounds to enter every nook and cranny, enveloping the room in a wonderful aroma and treating everyone who enters. Give features.

While this is the most common way to use essential oils, it’s certainly not the only way. There are many ways to enjoy the benefits of essential oils in your home or car without a diffuser.

1. A bowl of hot water

Take a cup of boiled water and add 10 drops of your favorite essential oil. You can also scatter fresh or dried flower petals or potpourri. In no time, the compounds will disperse, allowing the oil to work its magic.

2. House room spray (with essential oils)

This method is similar to air fresheners that we spray to remove odors or add a refreshing scent to a room.

Add a cup of distilled water to a spray bottle. Next, add 10 to 20 drops of your favorite essential oil. Feel free to add more drops based on the strength of the oil. Shake well before each use.

Since oil and water don’t mix, add vodka or rubbing alcohol to mix the ingredients together. Add about 3 tablespoons to the mixture and stir well.

3. Red diffuser

You can buy it in stores or you can make your own DIY red essential oil diffuser from an empty small bottle or container.

You will need:

  • Glass bottle (I used a bottle from an old diffuser)
  • Bamboo skewers or reeds
  • Favorite scented essential oil (I used jasmine)
  • A tablespoonful of wine
  • A cup of jojoba oil, sweet almond oil or fractionated coconut oil

Mix jojoba oil, almond oil, or coconut oil with 50 drops of your favorite essential oil. Add the rubbing alcohol and mix it well. Transfer to a glass bottle and keep the reeds inside. Label the bottle.

4. A drawstring bag

Many people use sachets to freshen up laundry, gym bags, and closets. If you’re at work, using essential oils is a great way to pamper yourself.

You will need small bags made of silk, cotton, organza, linen or hemp. You will also need rice, seeds, or dried flowers. And, of course, essential oils.

5. Heat tart burner

Take a candle tart burner and add a few drops of essential oil to the wax. Place it in the dining room or living room to eliminate unpleasant odors.

6. Dried flowers

This method can be used at home or in your car. Just take a bowl and add a splash of essential oil of your choice. Next, add the dried flowers and spread them evenly in a bowl. Cover the bowl and shake it carefully to mix the contents.

You can sit the bowl anywhere you want the fragrance to linger or you can take some of the dried flowers and tie it with a piece of thread. Hang them on your car’s rearview mirror.

7. Clothes Spin and Air Vent (Very Easy)

Take some cloth pan and add few drops of essential oil. Wooden cloth strips work best because the material absorbs the oil and locks them in for a long time.

Clip the wooden clothespins to the desired room or to the air vents of your car.

8. Incense with essential oils

DIY incense is an easy way to use essential oils to scent a room.

You will need:

  • Empty incense sticks
  • Essential oils
  • An oval or elongated surface
  • An eyedropper
  • A tall glass or plastic container

To make it, place the agarbattis flat on the surface. In a separate container, mix your favorite essential oils. Go with one, two, or even 3 different essential oils.

Using an eyedropper, carefully, transfer twenty or so drops onto the incense stick, dispersing the oil evenly. Once this is done, take the incense and store it in a tall container for twenty-four hours or until it dries.

9. Scented candles

Home aromatherapy candles have grown in popularity with the widespread use of essential oils.

To fill two small glass containers you will need:

  • Double boiler (or stove with boiling water)
  • Essential oil (20 to 40 drops)
  • 60 grams of soy wax paste or flakes
  • Double-sized dot stickers (optional)
  • Candle wick holder (optional)
  • Two candle wicks
  • Two small heatproof jars

Heat the soy flakes until they melt over a double boiler.

Let it cool for about 4 or 5 minutes before adding your chosen essential oil. Mix well.

Meanwhile, take a double size dot sticker and place it in the center of the jar. Now place the candle wick base on top of the sticker and align it with the holder.

If you don’t have stickers or a wick holder, you can secure the wicks by pouring soy wax into the bottom of the pot and using a long piece of wood to insert the wick. And place a wooden stick or pencil on top of the jar to prevent the wick from moving to the sides.

10. Gel air fresheners

Another way to use essential oils for those who enjoy crafting, gel air fresheners are as easy to make as aromatherapy candles and can be used in your car.

You’ll need plain gelatin, 2 cups cold water, a tablespoon of salt, essential oil, a tablespoon of vodka (optional), food coloring, and food jars with screw-on tops.

How to make it:

Make gelatin by boiling a cup of water. Once the water starts to boil, add the bag of gelatin and stir until it is well dissolved.

Add one spoon of salt and another cup of cold water. Keep stirring the mixture.

In a separate bowl, mix the coloring with the essential oil of your choice and mix with the gelatin.

You can add a tablespoon of vodka to prolong the shelf life but this is of course optional.

Transfer to a container before it solidifies completely.

Leave the containers uncovered and let them stand for a few hours. Now the gel is ready to go to work and neutralize the odors in your home.

11. DIY Scented Cotton Balls

A cotton ball infused with essential oils is a great way to freshen up any room and get rid of unpleasant odors. Scented cotton balls are also a good alternative if you don’t want to use commercial air fresheners loaded with harmful chemicals.

Materials

  • Cotton balls
  • Essential oils of your choice
  • Dish or bowl

To make them, simply soak cotton balls with your favorite essential oil. Choose citrus essential oils like orange, bergamot, lime etc. to feel better. If you’re looking for a calming lavender oil, chamomile or rose will do the trick

Using essential oils to scent a room

Essential oils can add wellness and relaxation to your home and can be used for a variety of purposes in the home. One of them is to make sure your home smells good. You can use them to get rid of odors and replace them with clean scents.

8 Ways to Diffuse Essential Oils Without a Diffuser (And Why You Should)

Scented candles are commonly used to “freshen up” a room and set the mood with relaxing or romantic lighting. But in some cases, scented candles can be dangerous to your health, releasing toxins into the air and contributing to indoor air pollution.

How to use essential oils without diffuser

Although it depends on the candle, most emit a variety of toxic chemicals, such as benzene and toluene, both of which can affect the central nervous system. Chemicals in candle scents can cause damage to the lungs, brain and central nervous system, as well as developmental difficulties, asthma attacks and migraines.

Diffusion of essential oils

Organic essential oils provide a safe, effective alternative to toxic scented candles. They smell incredible and enhance the mind, body and spirit. Choose based on your scent preference and/or essential oil benefits, such as aiding breathing (eucalyptus), soothing an upset stomach (peppermint), or creating a relaxing environment (cedarwood).

Using an oil diffuser helps disperse essential oil molecules into the air, giving your space a natural aroma and helping you reap amazing benefits. However, using electric, battery-powered, or candle-powered diffusers is not always possible. For a more portable, quick fix with your favorite essential oil, try one of these methods.

  • Bottle: The easiest way to enjoy the aromatic benefits of essential oils is directly from the bottle. Open a bottle of essential oil, hold it a few inches from your nose, and run your hand back and forth over the bottle to waft the vapor toward your nose.
  • Hands: Place a drop or two of essential oil in your palm, rub your hands together, and then place your hands over your nose and inhale deeply.
  • Tissue: Diffusing oil on tissue is inexpensive, requires no equipment, and can be done anywhere, anytime. Place 2-3 drops of essential oil on a tissue and keep it close. You can tuck it into your car’s air vent or inhale by holding it close to your nose. Refresh with 1 drop every hour.
  • Room spray: A quick spritz into the air helps freshen the room and mask odors. Fill a spray bottle with distilled water. Add 5-6 drops of essential oil for every ounce of water for a 1% dilution, 10-12 drops for a 2% dilution, etc. Since essential oils vary in strength, start with less. You can always add more.
  • Jewelry: The terracotta pendant diffuser can be worn on a necklace or bracelet. They’re perfect for releasing signature scents without putting them on your skin. Simply put a few drops of essential oil on the pendant and breathe in the molecules as the oil evaporates. Refresh with 1 drop as needed.
  • Toilet paper roll: A great way to keep your bathroom smelling fresh is to add a few drops of essential oil to a roll of toilet paper on a cardboard tube. Whenever someone unfolds the toilet paper, air will flow into the essential oil and disperse it into the air.
  • Cotton Ball: For a quick burst of essential oils, put a few drops on a cotton ball, and then place the cotton ball on your car vent, floor vent, or even fan blade — just be sure to close and the cotton ball. Unplug your fan before tapping on the fan, and remove your hands completely from the fan before plugging it in and turning it on.
  • Pillow case: drift off to sleep with the safe scent of essential oils. A few drops on the corner of your pillow case is all it takes!
